Policies alone are not enough to build an inclusive workplace, and inclusion shouldn’t be a box-ticking exercise. At its most basic level, it is about ensuring that no one feels left out because of their age, disability, gender reassignment, race, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, or other factors such as social background. Ultimately, an inclusive working environment allows people to be themselves at work. Equality and diversity can bring with them many challenges, so to promote workplace inclusion, you need to consider how your staff will work together on a daily basis.
With the upcoming SM&CR and its focus on Culture & Code of Conduct and the importance of Diversity and Inclusion within this, Deloitte will lead a discussion on the benefits of Diversity & Inclusion and how firms can initiate behavioural changes crucial to instilling a culture of inclusion, equality and respect.
